Twitter

I like Twitter!  It is very fun to browse in your spare time, but it is also a great resource. It is very easy to use as well. I have thought about using Twitter in my future classroom, but I was eager to read more about the ways in which I could incorporate it. I read two articles, Teaching with Twitter by Steve Wheeler and 25 Ways to Teach with Twitter by Sonja Cole. These articles both gave me some ideas on how I can use Twitter in my future classroom.

·      Provides a word of the day, book recommendation, article recommendation, trivia fact, or   helpful resource.
·      Share resources with other teachers.
·      Tweet about your schools website or blog.
·      Alerts students to changes in schedule or use it remind students of things coming up.
·      Asks students to summarize an article
·      Allows students to follow a famous, influential person and write about their experience following that person.

Lastly, I watched the video of the professor who used Twitter in her classroom. I think that is an awesome idea! It really gets everyone participating. Some people, including myself are shy and don’t feel comfortable participating in a room full of students, but Twitter allows for people to feel more confident about participating. Teachers can also provide feedback to their students which I think really benefits students’ learning.
